The Notorious XX Mixtape

The XX are one of the more exciting breakthrough British Bands out there at the moment, their debut album "XX" received a large amount of popularity and was considered one of the better albums of the year, it also earned them a Mercury Music Prize in September of this year.

Its rare for a mashup of genres like this to be successful, Im always hesitant of the idea and often think the outcome can be a little awkward and un-sure of itself! Wait What however, has done both parties justice.
I am a huge fan of Hip-hop and think that Big was one of the most influential characters within the genre; I also admire the XX for their efforts this year and consider them to be one of the more exciting bands I have seen recently and thought their album definitely deserved the credit it was given.

Much like the XX album I found myself listening to this mixtape almost continuously for the first few days, Its exciting how the subtle, melodic tones of the XX have been ruffled up and given a Hip-hop edge with the Biggie Smalls vocals sampled in over the top... It just fits, I don't really understand how!
