Sway - WOW2011 (Freestyle over POW2011)

In 2004 Lethal Bizzle (part of More Fire Crew fame) brought out the original POW track, it was a huge track for grime and was taken off airplay by many mainstream radio stations. It entered the Uk singles chart  at number 11 in the first week in the chart and reached number 1 in the UK dance Chart.

I remember this tune vividly and it was a huge statement for grime and Lethal B as to what the UK scene was about, now in 2010 Lethal B has come back and rerun the track with some of the biggest artists of the UK grime scene to date. Featuring verses from JME, Wiley, Chipmunk, 2-Face, P-Money, Ghetts & Kano it has come back bigger and better than ever! I urge any fans of grime to give this track a listen and any new fans of grime to check it out and see what its all about.

HOWEVER there has been a lot of chat behind the scenes of this track and Lethal Bizzle has come out and said originally Sway was meant to be on the track but that he didn't want to only have the bars the others were limited to. So he has come out with his own freestyle over the whole track. For me Sway is one of the most talented UK Mc's today, his flow is admired and recognised by most artists on the scene in the UK and mimicked by the rest of them... The way he puts his bars together is genius, if you haven't heard his debut album "This is my demo" then Where The FUCK have you been for the last 4 years? For me this is my favourite version of the track, I think this is Sway at his best so you should all definitely check it out!

My Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kanye West

Another Kanye post I know! The new album came out earlier this week, only had a chance to download and listen to it today. Love the direction Kanye has taken with this album, I was a fan of 808's but i prefer this style so much more, I think this is Kanye back at his best! I was intrigued to see how he was going to lay out the album after the G.O.O.D Friday releases and from the Runaway film but I think this is definitely worth a listen, If you haven't gone out and got this already.... Do it!

I really like the opening track, I was really excited to hear it in its entirety after it opened the Runaway film and i was definitely not disappointed. I'm also really impressed with Nicki Minaj at the moment; In my opinion she has better verses and style on a beat than most male Mc's at the moment and her verses on the track Monster are some of the best I have heard for a while! Another track to listen out for is All Of The Lights, whatever Rihanna touches turns to gold and her hook on this track is no different!

Lady Gaga Maxim Spread

This is the cover shoot Lady Gaga did for Maxim, I wouldn't say I was a fan of her music but she looks amazing in these pictures. She gets a lot of stick for what she does and i admire her spirit and drive to carry on for those who she does appeal too! I just think the girl is individual, yes there are the Madonna caparisons but she shouldn't be compared to anyone, she does what she does as an entertainer and to put herself out there; she may try harder than most for recognition but its her image! People shouldn't hate on a Kermit the Frog outfit or a Meat Suit anymore than they should hate on Rappers with Chains  and gold teeth!

Voltron Camera (1985)

Saw this a few months back but wanted to share it... I have always been into photography and is something I want to start Blogging about. I thought this Camera was really cool, I think the whole industry has shot itself in the foot by not making film cameras anymore, this isn't exactly an example of a classic film camera but I think it definitely deserves a mention!

I did manage to find one of these on Ebay but it was a little out of my price range for the minute, sadly I found it a little harder finding film to put in the damn thing!

G.O.O.D Fridays - New Release - Chain Heavy

I have always been a huge fan of Mr West, how he creates music is inspiring and the verses he is capable of puts him up there with the most talented in hip-hop... His individuality in style, art and his over all drive however, puts him at the top of a league of his own.

For 13 weeks now, in the build up to the release date of his 5th studio album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" Kanye has pushed out a new track for the fans to give back and help promote the album. I have to admit I have not personally fallen in love with every track released but the majority have been excellent and for him to literally give away music with a new album so near to release shows why Kanye is one of the best.

Darwin Deez Radar Detector [Video]

Really excited about this band, not too sure on the styling of  Darwin Smith though (Lead singer and dude in the pic) He seems to be pretty certain of himself I imagine him to be like a 21st century Mr Ben. but instead of a costume shop he just pops down to Urban Outfitters for the afternoon does a bit of acid and passes out in the changing room and comes round with lyrics and a tune... I say go for it Rebel Child!

The Notorious XX Mixtape

The XX are one of the more exciting breakthrough British Bands out there at the moment, their debut album "XX" received a large amount of popularity and was considered one of the better albums of the year, it also earned them a Mercury Music Prize in September of this year.

Its rare for a mashup of genres like this to be successful, Im always hesitant of the idea and often think the outcome can be a little awkward and un-sure of itself! Wait What however, has done both parties justice.
I am a huge fan of Hip-hop and think that Big was one of the most influential characters within the genre; I also admire the XX for their efforts this year and consider them to be one of the more exciting bands I have seen recently and thought their album definitely deserved the credit it was given.

Much like the XX album I found myself listening to this mixtape almost continuously for the first few days, Its exciting how the subtle, melodic tones of the XX have been ruffled up and given a Hip-hop edge with the Biggie Smalls vocals sampled in over the top... It just fits, I don't really understand how!
